Annie Chen received a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University, and a Master of Education degree in Developmental and Educational Psychology from Beijing Normal University (China). She is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. Annie speaks English and Mandarin. She previously worked in China for more than ten years as a National Licensed Clinical Counselor and a Registered Professional Psychotherapist with the Chinese Psychology Society.
Annie has been working with diverse populations, including individual adults, couples, children, adolescents, families, and parenting skill groups with parents in the Bay Area for several years. She is a practitioner becoming certified in DDP-Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, also known as AFFT-Attachment-Focused Family Therapy. She was also well-trained and experienced in Play Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), Theraplay, and Behavioral Psychotherapy.
With cross-cultural living and working experiences, Annie enjoys working with children, teens, and their parents to help address developmental challenges, relationship conflicts, emotional struggles, behavioral difficulties, and other mental health issues that they may encounter in daily life. She deeply believes that childhood experiences and parent-child relationships could play an extremely important role in one’s personal development and, by helping to build a secure enough emotional bond among family members, can create a power of healing throughout everyone’s life.
